Watsonville City Council to discuss Cannabis Equity Program Tuesday
WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION-TV) -- Watsonville City Council will be voting on a number of agenda items Tuesday afternoon.
One of these items may be a change to the city's Cannabis Equity Program, which was adopted in 2019 to provide opportunities for people who have been negatively impacted by the war on drugs enter into the legal cannabis market, according to a city report.
The state found two deficiencies in the program last year, including one on gender equity, according to the document.
To address this, the council will be discussing removing an eligibility requirement that allows businesses that are 50% women-owned to participate in the program.
