Giants legend Buster Posey taking over as President of Baseball Operations after team fires Farhan Zaidi
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The San Francisco Giants announced they've parted ways with President of Baseball Operations Farhan Zaidi and named a notable replacement.
Giants legend Buster Posey will take over for Zaidi, who spent six years with the team.
"Ultimately, the results have not been what we had hoped, and while that responsibility is shared by all of us, we have decided that a change is necessary," said Greg Johnson, Chairman of the San Francisco Giants.
Posey spent his entire 12-year career with the Giants and was a part of the team's stint of three World Series championships from 2010 to 2014.
"Buster has the demeanor, intelligence and drive to do this job, and we are confident that he and Bob Melvin will work together to bring back winning baseball to San Francisco," Johnson said.
