METRO offers free fares to the Santa Cruz County Fair

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District (METRO) announced that it will be offering free fares to passengers headed to the Santa Cruz County Fair in Watsonville between September 11 and 15 for both fixed-route and ParaCruz services.

METRO said that they've created a special free bus route dedicated to fair attendees called Route 79F. They say that this route will be offering rides on a daily basis.

METRO is also offering free weekend service on Route 79 with Route 79F free service offered daily, according to METRO.

"Riders who take Routes 79F, 79 or ParaCruz service to the Fair will also receive discounted County Fair tickets," METRO said.

Riders wanting to take advantage of the discount should request a coupon voucher from the bus driver and present the voucher at the fair ticketing window. Metro says that discounts are $15 for adults (a $7 savings) and $5 for children (a $6 savings).

Riders can expect service to depart from the Watsonville Transit Center on the hour between 12 p.m. and 10 p.m. during the weekdays, and then again from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on the weekends, according to METRO. They said they will also be offering return trips from the fair at the :25 past the hour between 12:25 p.m. and 10:25 p.m. on the weekdays, then again from 10:25 a.m. until 10:25 p.m. on the weekends.
