John Lewis

Statement:

  • As a systems infrastructure engineer and IT contractor I am no stranger to working on complex systems with a history of deferred maintenance and under resourcing which is why I think I would be successful as a Scotts Valley City Council member. We have limited funds available and a number of top line infrastructure projects that must be completed before city leadership passes the baton to the next generation of residents.
  • I fell in love with this area when I came to Mount Hermon for summer retreats with my church during my time as a member of youth group leadership and as the worship band’s drummer. The steadfast trees, and serenity drew me in to Scotts Valley which I now call home. When Kacey and I decided to start our family, we chose to do so here in Scotts Valley. I love waking up in the foggy redwoods every morning and I am excited to build a life here in Scotts Valley with my family.
  • My motivation to join Scotts Valley City Council stems from my desire to make Scotts Valley the best place for our family to raise a child. My wonderful wife is currently serving as a Scotts Valley Arts Commissioner, and I am working towards prototyping new technology and services to build a business in our city.
  • Our upcoming municipal projects are exciting to an infrastructure and connected systems nerd like me. I am used to complex systems and complex problems - complex problems require inclusive solutions, but not necessarily complex ones. Every challenge is an opportunity; we must remember to fund our future as well as we fund our safety.
  • Like you, I have chosen to invest myself in Scotts Valley for our common future, and grow our family in a safe, wonderful place.
