Salinas Union High School District warns parents of ongoing construction ahead of school beginning
SALINAS, Calif. (KIONP-TV) -- Ahead of the 2024-2025 school year starting on Tuesday, the Salinas Union High School District (SUHSD) issued a statement on Facebook warning parents about several important transportation updates.
Ongoing construction projects may impact bus routes as well as pick-up and drop-off locations, according to SUHSD.
The district says that two new temporary bus stops are located on Independence Blvd. near Steinbeck Park (next to Steinbeck School) and Little River Dr. (between Peaceful Cove and Charleston St.), which may affect traffic near Harden Middle School. According to the school district, this construction is expected to be finished by the end of August.
Another location affected by construction, is near Washington Middle School and Salinas High. There is a temporary relocation of bus pick-up and drop-off areas at Sherwood School to 14 Wood St., according to SUHSD.
Near Salinas High and North Salinas High School, the district warns of potential delays from construction affecting entry and exit routes to both school sites. This construction is expected to be ongoing throughout the school year, says the district.
The district also wants to issue general reminders that some bus stops and times have been updated, to arrive five minutes before scheduled departure times and to follow the district's transportation website for regular updates.
