Montage Health President and CEO Dr. Steven Packer announces retirement
MONTEREY, Calif. (KION-TV)- Montage Health has announced that their longtime President and CEO, Dr. Steven Packer will be retiring in spring 2025.
Packer has been the leader of the health organization for 25 years.
"It has been a genuine privilege to serve this wonderful community that my family calls home," Packer said in a statement. "I have been honored to work with such an amazing team of dedicated and skilled physicians, nurses, staff, volunteers, and Boards of Trustees."
Packer was a practicing pulmonologist before joining Montage Health. Packer was also the chief of staff at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula.
During Packer's tenure, the hospital was able to add 120 new patient rooms with the Hospital's Pavilions Project and was able to built the Ryan Ranch outpatient campus.
Also, Montage Health opened wellness centers in Marina and Salinas plus opened a campus for their youth mental health program called Ohana.
Hospital officials said they will start a national search for Packer's replacement within the next couple of days.
