Warm weather brings crowds to Santa Cruz beaches

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV)- The hot weather is approaching the central coast, bringing in more people to the beaches, including the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.People have their umbrellas set up and the beach towels laid out.

Zeala Sangoto came down here with her daughter, who is visiting from Hawaii.

“Just kind of chill today on the beach and then go towards San Jose," Zeala Sangato from San Mateo said.

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is one of the few beaches that Christian Valencia and Adriana Chaplan plan to visit this summer.

“This summer I kind of want to hit all the beaches, especially this one an Oceanside in San Francisco," Christian Valencia from the Bay Area said.

“My go to place is Seacliff beach, it is so beautiful down there," Adrianna Chapman visiting from Maryland said.

“The last two weekends have been bigger than we’ve had really all year so far and then we’re really staffed up for the next couple of days," Charlie Wilcox the owner of Marianne's Ice Cream said.

The warm weather drawing more people into Santa Cruz beaches as well as the boardwalk.

“We have the beach here which is very unique, we are in an admission free park so lots of families love to come down here," Gladys Rodriguez the Beach Boardwalk spokesperson said. "Enjoy the nice weather, go on a ride and get some food, it’s a good time for all families.”

We're keeping an eye on the weather tomorrow. Expect a large, 15-20ft breaking waves and increased sneaker waves, effecting Southern Monterey Bay and Big Sur Coast areas.
