Richard Dreyfuss’ comments about women, LGBTQ+ people and diversity lead venue to apologize

BEVERLY, Mass. (AP) — A venue has issued an apology after actor Richard Dreyfuss showed up in a dress at a “Jaws”-themed event and made comments that were demeaning to women and LGBTQ+ people. The 76-year-old actor played a marine biologist in the blockbuster 1975 film. Some in the audience in the Massachusetts community of Beverly walked out over his remarks about women, transgender people and the Academy Awards’ efforts to foster inclusivity. The venue for the event says in an emailed apology that it doesn’t endorse the actor’s opinions.
