Monterey Bay held scoreless in 2-0 loss to Orange County

IRVINE, Calif. (KION) - For the first time in the 2024 campaign, Monterey Bay F.C. (4-2-2, 14 points) was unable to find the back of the net, falling 2-0 to in-state rival Orange County SC (4-1-3, 15 points).

Thomas Amang netted the match-winner for OCSC in just the sixth minute off an assist from Ashish Chattha. For the next 76 minutes, the Crisp and Kelp moved the ball well, creating ten chances along the way. Despite six shots on target, Orange County managed to hold Monterey Bay scoreless.

In the 82nd minute, Cameron Dunbar set up Ethan Zubak for a late brace to help Orange County to a 2-0 victory.

Between the pipes, MBFC goalkeeper Antony Siaha surrendered two goals but saved four additional shots. For the Black and Orange, Colin Shutler locked it down, earning his fourth clean sheet of the season, thanks to six saves by the end of the match.

The loss marks the Union's second of the season as they move to third in the Western Conference. Up next, Monterey Bay will face Indy Eleven on May 4 for Star Wars Night at Cardinale Stadium.
