City of Santa Cruz moves forward to participate in county landlord incentive program

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV)- On Tuesday afternoon, The Santa Cruz City Council unanimously approved to move forward with plans to increase funding for a landlord incentive program.

The program offers landlords and property managers a "risk mitigation fund," for accepting tenants who are in section eight housing voucher programs.

The city currently has over $21,000 set aside for this program want to increase set aside for the program but want to increase it by $15,000.

A city report says the funding would retain existing landlords in the program and also mitigate any negative experiences with a tenant.
