Return of the Fog

All reporting stations are good to moderate .
High pressure continues to weaken into early in the week as a low sneaks in to our southwest. The low won’t have any direct impacts on us, but temperatures will cool as our marine layer is allowed to deepen in the coming days. We’ll also likely see the return of low clouds as the layer moistens. Light offshore flow will return early to mid-week which will likely clear us back out again. However, the air mass won’t be as warm. In fact, by the end of the week, much cooler weather is expected.
Rest of Sunday: Mostly sunny and a bit hazy with patchy fog along the coast. We’ll see an even earlier onset of the sea breeze, cooling coastal areas into the upper 60s to low 80s while inland areas remain mainly in the 90s. Coastal fog thickens late.
Overnight: Coastal fog, otherwise clear. Expect coastal lows mid-50s to mid-60s with upper 40s to 50s for inland valleys and 60s-70s up in the hills.
Monday: Patchy low clouds and fog on the coast, otherwise sunny. Cooler, with coastal highs in the mid-60s to low 70s and upper 70s to low 90s inland. Becoming breezy for inland valleys in the afternoon.
Extended: Temperatures will swing back up on Tuesday with a decrease in low clouds. Expect sunnier weather through mid-week with slightly warmer temps, then a big cool-down toward the end of the week under partly cloudy skies.

-The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for October 26th – November 1st calls for the likelihood of near normal temperatures and near normal precipitation.
-El Niño/La Niña STATUS: Neutral
-Forecast into Winter: La Niña Advisory
-Area drought status: Moderate drought for much of Santa Cruz & Santa Clara Counties, Abnormally dry on the east shore of the bay into San Benito County. No drought classification for much of Monterey County outside of the Gabilan Range.
