Chilly Overnight, Rain Chances Wed, Thu
High pressure will weaken over the
area Tuesday, allowing a storm system to slip through. Its biggest impacts will
be far to our north, but some light precipitation is still likely to make it to
our shores. In the wake of this system, a blocked weather pattern will develop
with high pressure to our west and troughing to our east. Weak systems will
ride down the northwest flow overhead, bringing clouds, cool air, occasional
wind, and some showers from time to time. One will pass by on Thursday, another
Saturday, and another early next week.
Overnight: Clear with patchy fog in the valley
bottoms. Expect lows in the low to mid 40s on the coast and upper 20s to 30s
inland.
Tuesday: Mostly sunny but cooler as winds slowly shift back
onshore. Clouds will be on the increase late with some drizzle possible before
midnight. Highs mainly in the upper 50s to low 60s. Breezy at times on the
coast, especially late.
Wednesday: Partly to mostly cloudy
with occasional drizzle to very light showers. Cool and breezy with highs in
the 50s.
Extended: Another system will bring the chance of some light rain
showers early Thursday before clearing on Friday. High temperatures will remain
below normal. The next system after that will arrive around Saturday with
similar possibilities.
The outlook from the Climate Prediction Center for January 14th – 20th calls for the likelihood of BELOW normal temperatures and ABOVE normal precipitation.
