Warmer, But Still Windy Sunday
SALINAS, Calif. (KION) – High pressure quickly rebuilds starting Sunday, sending temperatures back upward. We won’t be rid of the wind, however. In fact, despite warming temperatures, gusty winds will persist into the work week.
Air Quality: Good
Overnight: Scattered clouds. Lows in the 40s to low 50s. Winds easing.
Sunday: A few morning clouds, then mostly sunny. Gusty northwesterly winds at times. Warmer, with coastal highs in the low 60s to mid-70s—warmest on the north side of the bay—and 70s to mid-80s inland. Gusty northwesterly winds at times.
***GALE WARNING***
...for the near coastal waters from Pigeon Point to Point Piedras Blancas (outside of Monterey Bay) in effect from 3PM Sunday until 9AM Monday
*Northwest winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt and seas 8 to 10 ft expected.
*Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility.
Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for hazardous conditions.
Monday: Low clouds with patchy fog at the coast early, then becoming mostly sunny and warmer. Highs in the mid-60s to low-80s on the coast—warmest on the north side of the bay—and upper 70s to low 90s inland. Gusty northwesterly winds at times.
Extended: Temps will dip slightly on Tuesday but remain above normal. Winds will persist and we’ll see a slight uptick in low, coastal clouds. Then, high pressure strengthens and temps head back up, peaking on Thursday both on the coast and inland. Coastal areas will top out in the 70s-80s with 80s-90s inland. Slight cooling expected by Memorial Day Weekend.
