Otters win first CCAA Tournament Championship in program history

SEASIDE, Calif. (KION) - After Cal State San Bernardino forced a winner-take-all "If Necessary Game," Cal State Monterey Bay stunned the Coyotes with a massive eight-run comeback.

At the plate, JJ Engman led the Otters, who drove in 5 RBI, including a go-ahead three-run home run in the seventh inning.

On the mound, Ryan Sleeman earned the win. He threw over six innings, accounting for six total strikeouts. He kept San Bernardino in the rearview mirror as he only allowed five hits and one earned run.

The Otters would go on to beat the Coyotes 13-9 to earn their first-ever CCAA Tournament Championship.

Cal State Monterey Bay receives an automatic bid to the NCAA West Regional thanks to the victory.
