Monterey County Free Libraries seek temporary evacuation volunteers

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) - Monterey County Free Libraries is looking for volunteers to help with emergencies across the county.

The library emergency support volunteers aid evacuees when libraries become temporary evacuation points in King City, Prunedale, and Carmel Valley during emergencies such as wildfires, earthquakes, extreme heat, or storms.

Evacuees can charge devices, get snacks, access the internet, and find information on resources.

Those interested must be over 18.

There will be three training sessions this month in King City, Prunedale, and Carmel Valley:

  • Saturday, July 19 – 10:00-12:00 – King City Library
  • Tuesday, July 29 – 5:00-7:00 – Prunedale Library
  • Wednesday, July 30 – 6:00-8:00 – Carmel Valley Library
