Salinas man pleads guilty to robbery and assault charges
SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) - The Monterey County District Attorney's Office announced that 28-year-old Cosme Ramos pleaded guilty to several charges on June 26th, including robbery and sexual assault. These charges all count as strikes against him under California's "three strikes" law.
On October 13, 2023, the District Attorney's office says that Ramos entered a Salinas gas station and robbed the female clerk at gunpoint, stealing about $900.
He then forced her to drive him away from the gas station, taking him to the Carr Lake area of Salinas.
Once there, the D.A says that Ramos forced the woman into oral sex and attempted to take her pants off to rape her.
She was able to get away from Ramos, running from the scene and leaving her vehicle behind. A good Samaritan eventually returned the victim's vehicle to the station.
Ramos will be sentenced on October 14th, 2025, to 45 years in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender for life.
