New park, Valle del Pajaro, opens to the public on July 11

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) - People living in South Santa Cruz County will soon have access to a brand new park.

The county is announcing that a ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held for Valle del Pajaro's public opening.

That's happening next Friday, July 11, at 10 a.m. at 188 Whiting Road in Watsonville.

It marks the first new park in unincorporated South County in decades and the first-ever to bear a Spanish name in county history.

The park features a new walking loop trail, picnic areas, and ADA-accessible parking with a road connecting the park entrance to the parking lot.

The county says Valle del Pajaro is now open to the public with additional features slated for installation next year, with County Parks conducting community engagement to generate a park master plan.
