Capitola Police seek suspsect in Monday afternoon burglary

CAPITOLA, Calif. (KION-TV) - A suspect in a residential burglary on Monday afternoon is being sought by the Capitola Police Department.

The burglary, according to Capitola Police, happened on the 800 block of Riverview Drive as the suspect, an unknown male, left the area around 4:29 p.m.

Officers began to search a brush area near the home to contact the suspect. It was then that they let down an embankment of thick vegetation near Soquel Creek and the Stockton Avenue Bridge.

Capitola PD closed off the perimeter of the area, sending in a drone to find any signs of the man. This included a shelter-in-place order for a brief moment.

The suspect is described as a white male, between 30 to 40 years of age, 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet in height. They were last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a black hooded sweatshirt with a light-colored logo on the back, dark pants, and dark shoes.

The burglary investigation is still ongoing.
