Suspect arrested in Sacramento for 2024 Watsonville double homicide

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KION) - A suspect in connection with a 2024 double homicide in Watsonville has been arrested in Sacramento.

According to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office, the unidentified suspect was arrested in Sacramento earlier today after being located in the city. They were arrested on two counts of murder.

The double homicide happened on Oct. 4, 2024, after reports of a shooting on the 700 block of Carlton Road in Watsonville, finding two victims, Jeremiah Rios Aguilera and Giovani Aburto Lopez, suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The arrest was made in conjunction with the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office and the Sacramento Police Department.
