Monterey County calls for the reinstatement of Clara Adams’s Championship

MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) - The Monterey County Board of Supervisors has signed a letter in support of track and field athlete Clara Adams, calling for her championship title to be reinstated.

Adams was stripped of her title after a post-win celebration during the CIF State Championships after a 400-meter final. Adams was also disqualified from a 200-meter event where she ranked second.

The letter is addressed to CIF Executive Director Ron Nocetti and Bobbie Madsen, with the board stating that the reinstatement of the title is "not only justified, but necessary to uphold the principles of fairness, integrity, and justice."

All five Board of Supervisors members signed off on the letter, which will now be sent to the CIF.
