Local brewery brings home wins from World Beer Cup
MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) - Alvarado Street Brewery has several locations around the central coast, and they brought home multiple medals from the World Beer Cup, which some call "The Olympics of Beer Competitions", that just finished judging on May 1st in Indiana.
Alvarado Street brought home a gold medal in the American-style sour ale category with their Howzit Punch, awarded a silver medal for their "Contains No Juice" drink for juicy or hazy Imperial India pale Ale, and a bronze for their Gold Label Mai Tai PA in the American-style strong Pale Ale category.
The assistant general manager of their Monterey branch says that the 3 winners are what they like to call their "core beers." It's not the first time they've been submitted to the World Beer Cup, and it likely won't be the last, and it won't be for these awards either. The brewery has won several medals over the last decade.
There was another winner on the Central Coast. Other Brother Beer in Seaside won a bronze medal for their "Tropic Desert" in the American-style sour ale category.
