New website shows Vistra battery fire cleanup progress
MOSS LANDING, Calif. (KION-TV) -- A new website has launched with the latest updates on the cleanup efforts at the Vistra Energy battery fire site.
Monterey County has set up the site at ReadyMonterey.org to show real-time battery and debris removal progress. The updates are shown as progress bars and split across three phases.
As the removal continues, visitors can see how far the County of Monterey's Health Department and Housing and Community Development Department and EPA have come.
The removal is still in its first phase having begun on February 22, a month after the battery facility sparked at the Moss Landing site.

A tri-county community survey released on February 19 is wrapping up this week on Friday, March 14.
That survey was launched due to the growing health concerns of those living near the fire in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties.
“We want to reassure the public that the information shared is valued and will be used to improve future Health Department responses,” Monterey County health officer and director of public health Dr. Edward Moreno said when the survey first launched.
