City of Marina considering a pay raise for mayor, city council

MARINA, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The City of Marina is looking to raise the current salaries of the mayor and city council to match the current cost of living.

Currently, the mayor and council members make $250 to $200 per month, a salary that has not changed since September 4, 1990. The ordinance, if passed, would see the mayor and councilmembers salaries increased to $2,5000 and $2,000 per month.

The ordinance cites the rise in the cost of living as a reason for the major change, which has risen in Marina by 300 percent. The council will also be considering their benefits along with the pay raise.
