A third inmate at the Monterey County Jail has tested positive for COVID-19.

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) -- A third inmate at the Monterey County Jail has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office confirms three total have tested positive.

The third case is being investigated in terms of whether the inmate was infected with the virus while inside the jail or before entering.

We're working to learn more about the two previous inmates that had tested positive for COVID-19.
