Soledad man killed after leading police on vehicle pursuit

SOLEDAD, Calif. (KION) A Soledad man was killed after the CHP says he led Soledad police on a chase.

CHP says it started late Friday, June 5, when Soledad police officers tried to perform a traffic stop on a truck for vehicle code violations.

That's when the CHP says 20-year-old Germano Ordonez drove off, traveling south on Highway 101 before turning onto Arroyo Seco and Los Coches Road.

Investigators say Ordonez was traveling at around 80 mph when his truck traveled onto a dirt shoulder, hit a culvert and overturned.

The CHP says Ordonez's vehicle came to a rest and that Ordonez suffered fatal injuries as a result.
