Salinas Valley Medical testing Abbott ID NOW machines

SALINAS, Calif.

Salinas Valley Medical Hospital System is one step closer to performing rapid testing with the latest diagnostic machines for COVID-19.

The machines were developed by Abbott Laboratories and can have results back within minutes. On Friday, the Monterey Health Department announced SVMHS was the first of the county's hospitals to receive them.

Over the weekend, SVMHS received the cartridges that the portable machines require and are carrying out "validation testing" this weekend.
