CAPITOLA, Calif. (KION) Several beaches are closed from Capitola to Sunny Cove after a paddle boarder had a close call with a shark.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office said the shark bit a paddle boarder's board Friday while he was paddling near 38th Ave.

As a precaution, several beaches near that area will be closed through April 1.
