Parents and students on edge after Scotts Valley Police confirm kids being followed by a van

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The Scotts Valley Police Department said Thursday that on Sunday they received a report that between 6:45 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., two middle school aged children were being followed throughout the Skypark neighborhood by an unknown man.

Officers who responded to the scene searched the area but the suspect had already left in a newer white cargo van that had no side window and was driven by a second male suspect.

The suspect who followed the children is being described as male between 30 and 40 years old with a light complexion and about 6 feet tall. Police say that the suspect's build is average to athletic and he was seen wearing a bright orange beanie with a pom-pom on top.

Scotts Valley Police say that they are conducting an active investigation into the situation, and are asking the community to remember that it is holiday season and so there are many white vans driving around.

That said, they are asking anyone with leads on the suspects or potential license plate information, to please contact the Scotts Valley Police Department at 831-440-5670.
