Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County hosts online Be the Difference Awards ceremony

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) The Volunteer Center of Santa Cruz County and its sponsors are hosting the 2020 Be the Difference Awards, but this year it will be held online.

"While this year will look like never before in our 14 year history of the awards, we promise an incredible hour of lunchtime inspiration and entertainment social distance style. We encourage all community members to join us in celebration," states Volunteer Center Director of Communications Christine Loewe.

Normally, about 400 people would gather for a gala to honor people, groups and businesses that help the community through volunteer work, but this year the awards ceremony will be held online via a pre-recorded watch party.

The ceremony will highlight five nominees, but all 55 nominees will be recognized.
