Hollister conducts a fire district study
HOLLISTER, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The City of Hollister is looking into forming a joint powers authority to study the city's fire district feasibility.
Even though there has been talks of creating a new fire district for over 10 years, progress has been slow, according to Mayor Mia Casey.
She also said that a structured JPA could help focus efforts and complete the feasibility study to determine if a fire district is suitable for the community.
The mayor also added that this is a separate discussion from the existing negotiations between Hollister, San Juan Bautista and San Benito County over the fire services contract.
