Hollister Animal Shelter Closed to New Strays
The Hollister animal shelter is closed for new arrivals following the shelter taking in multiple strays that could have been exposed to infectious diseases.
Hollister police animal care says that a stray puppy at the shelter may have been exposed to parvovirus, and more recently, a stray kitten was taken in with a case of panleukopenia.
Shelter animals are being monitored under quarantine for about 2 weeks, once they have been cleared , the shelter will resume normal operations.
That 2 week period is tentative, if there are clear signs the shelter's population is safe, the shelter could reopen for regular adoptions and strays sooner.
