4 killed in helicopter crash near Colusa

UPDATE 8/2/2021 12:20 p.m. Two of the four people killed in a helicopter crash near Colusa Sunday afternoon have been identified.

According to a reporter for the CBS affiliate in Sacramento, two of the victims are identified as Bill Vann and his wife Susie. Vann was reportedly a well-known farmer and businessman, and Vann Family Orchards is flying its flag at half staff Monday.

Reporter Renee Santos says the other two victims were friends of the Vanns.

PREVIOUS STORY: The Colusa County Sheriff's Office has confirmed four people were killed in a helicopter crash near Colusa Sunday afternoon.

Investigators say the crash happened around 1:15 p.m. close to Highway 45 at Reservation Road.

First responders found the victims at the crash site and pronounced them dead at the scene, but could not confirm identities at this time.

The National Transportation Safety Board announced they will be investigating the incident. The Federal Aviation Administration is also heading to the scene.
