Inspirational messages are being posted on a fence near the emergency room at Salinas Valley Memorial.

The fence, which surrounds the COVID-19 Alternate Care Site where potential coronavirus patients are evaluated with nose and throat swabs, is quickly filling up with words of encouragement and appreciation for doctors and staff on the frontlines.

The thank-you notes and letters of appreciation are from patients and their families, along with community members. The notes cannot be seen by the public but provide inspiration to the clinical team working at the screening tents.

One reads: " Thanks to doctors, nurses, and all those that are working at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System. May God's protection be upon every one of you and your families."

A hospital spokesperson says the words of appreciation will be remembered long after the fence comes down, which many hope is not too far in the distant future.
