Same-day voter registration in Santa Cruz County

Santa Cruz County residents voting on election day
KION

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION) Voting was even easier this election day for Santa Cruz County residents. For the first time in the county, every voting poll allowed for same-day voter registration. Residents are able to register, and then vote up until the polls close at 8 p.m. Tuesday evening.

There were also 120,000 vote-by-mail ballots sent out this year. As of 12 p.m. nearly 30,000 of those were processed. However, on election day you can turn in those mail-in ballots to 10 different ballot drop off locations including outside the county building in Santa Cruz.

This afternoon at 4:30 on KION, Drew Andre will have a live report from UC Santa Cruz where one of the polling locations has been packed all day.
