Woman arrested for hiding suspect in King City triple homicide that killed pregnant woman

KING CITY, Calif. (KION-TV)- 10/12/22 1:43 p.m.- King City Police have arrested everyone believed to be connected to the murder of a woman, her unborn child and her boyfriend in Dec. of 2021.

However, they arrested a 25-year-old woman allegedly aiding and abetting after the fact a known suspect in the homicides to avoid arrest. She was arrested Wednesday at 7:55 a.m. on the 400 block of Amanda Lane, said police.

Jazmin Matilda Aviles was arrested and booked into Monterey County Jail and then served a search warrant at her residence, said police.

Man arrested after 9 months for King City triple homicide that killed pregnant woman

A man wanted in connection with a triple murder that killed a pregnant woman and her boyfriend in Dec. 2021 has been arrested in Mariposa Count.

The Marshall's Service developed leads that had them believe the suspect, Elizar Ayron Arellano, a 20-year-old male resident of King City, was in Tuolumne County. King City Police traveled to Tuolumne and Mariposa Counties to find Arellano.

He was arrested and found on the 600 block of Greely Hill Road in Coulterville on Tuesday, according to police. He was transported to Monterey County Jail.

After his arrest, his home on the 20000 block of Chapin Road in Groveland was searched.

According to the court portal, he was charged with second-degree murder, conspiring to commit a felony for a gang, and possession of fireworks without a permit.

His bail is set at $6,123,500, according to the Monterey County Jail.

Man sentenced to life in prison for King City double homicide that killed a pregnant woman

UPDATE 8/31/22 5:43 p.m.- A man was sentenced to serve life in prison Wednesday after previously pleading guilty to the murders of two people on Dec. 26, 2021, including a pregnant woman, according to the Monterey County District Attorney Jeannie M. Pacioni.

Raul Omar Lucas, 21, was sentenced to serve 58 years to life in prison for three counts of murder while using a firearm to benefit a street gang. Lucas and three other gang members drove to Sussex Way and shot Carlos Lopez, age 20, and his girlfriend Selina Godoy, age 18, who was ten weeks pregnant, as they tried to exit their vehicle, said Pacioni.

The vehicle the gang used was caught on surveillance cameras in the area fleeing the murder scene. A search warrant was issued for a residence in King City, and the murder weapon was found with Lucas' DNA on it, said Pacioni.

At the sentencing hearing, Lucas was offered an opportunity to speak about the crimes he committed. He said loud enough for the court to hear him, “All I got to say is **** the DA, straight up!”

Due to Lucas committing the crime when he was under 26, he will be entitled to youthful offender parole in 25 years.

The Monterey County District Attorney's Office and King City Police charged Lucas with three murders. But he took a plea that only convicted him of two of the murders, according to the DA's office.

King City Police originally charged Lucas for a third victim, when they found out one of the victims was pregnant at the time of her death. However, Lucas was sentenced for the murder of only two people, Carlos Lopez and Selena Godoy. 

UPDATE 8/3/22 3:43 p.m.- A man has pled guilty in connection to a double murder that occurred on Dec. 26, 2021, one of the victims was a pregnant mother, according to Monterey County District Attorney Jeannine M. Pacioni.

Raul Omar Lucas, 21, pled guilty to two counts of first-degree murder while personally using a firearm to benefit a criminal street gang. He will receive up to 58 years to life when he is sentenced on August 31, said Pacioni.

Lucas, along with three other gang members, drove to Sussex Way and shot and killed Carlos Lopez, age 20, and his girlfriend Salina Godoy, age 18, who was ten to 12 weeks pregnant, when they left their vehicle in King City, said Pacioni.

A vehicle was caught on surveillance believed to be involved in the murders. A search warrant was then served at the residence the vehicle was found at.

The murder weapon involved in the murders was found at the residence with Lucas' DNA on it, said Pacioni.

Two juveniles arrested for connection to King City triple homicide that killed unborn infant

(KION) UPDATE 7/25/22 3:43 p.m.- King City Police said they made two additional arrests in the Dec. 26, 2021, double murder that killed a woman that was ten weeks pregnant.

Two 17-year-old King City residents were arrested on June 25 for alleged involvement in the murders that killed Carlos Manual Lopez Sanchez, Selena Gonzalez Godoy and Godoy’s unborn child. Each juvenile was charged with a count of murder for each victim and was booked to Monterey County Juvenile Hall, said police.

Both suspects were already booked into Juvenile Hall on unrelated charges, said police.

Murder charge added in King City homicide investigation after victim determined to be pregnant

UPDATE 1/14/22 3:43 p.m.: King City Police announced additional charges for the people believed to have been involved in a King City homicide on Sussex Way and Wellington Avenue in late Dec. 2021.

Police confirmed today, through the Monterey County Sheriff's Office Coroner Unit, that the female victim in the shooting was pregnant at the time she was murdered.

Selena Gonzalez Godoy and Carlos Manuel Lopez Sanchez were killed in that shooting on Dec. 26.

As a result of the discovery of Godoy's pregnancy, Raul Omar Lucas faces an additional count of homicide, while Rocio Villa Vasquez Martinez faces an additional count of aiding and abetting in the incident.

King City Police, meanwhile, arrested an additional suspect and charged a 19-year-old they identified as Guillermo Becerra with three counts of homicide.

Police said they're still looking for an additional suspect, identified as Elizar Ayron Arellano. Police say he is considered armed and dangerous.

ORIGINAL STORY:

The King City Police Department arrested two suspects in a double homicide of 20-year-old Carlos Manuel Lopez Sanchez and 18-year-old Selena Gonzalez Godoy in King City Monday afternoon.

According to police, Monterey Communications received multiple 911 calls about gunshots fired in the area around Sussex Way and Wellington Avenue on Dec. 26 at around 1:22 p.m.

Police said a grey 2006 GMC Yukon arrived around the time of the crime, where a suspect exited the vehicle and confronted the victims.

During a search on Dec. 27, King City Police, SWAT team, and Salinas VSTF found a gun with no serial number. Police arrested a 28-year-old female Salinas resident for possession of an assault weapon, possession of a short-barreled rifle, possession of a large-capacity magazine, and child endangerment. She was booked in Monterey County Jail for aiding and abetting the murder.

On Dec. 29, police were able to locate another suspect in Salinas. Raul Omar Lucas, 20, was charged for murdering two people. However, police are still looking for 19-year-old Elizar Ayron Arellano and two additional suspects.

"If members of the public know the whereabouts of Arellano they are asked to not attempt to contact Arellano as he is considered armed and dangerous," King City Police said in a statement.

Police ask that people call (831) 755-5111 if they believe they have seen Arellano, the location and time where they saw Arellano, a description of Arellano’s clothing and any vehicle that may be related to him.
