Vehicle Pursuit Arrests in Hollister
The Hollister Police Department has arrested 2 suspects following a brief vehicle pursuit on Wednesday, May 28th. In addition to the 2 suspects being arrested, nearly 100 pieces of stolen mail from Santa Clara County, including credit cards, social security cards, and other personal documents along with narcotics were found in the vehicle, which has been confirmed as stolen.
Around 3pm on Wednesday, Hollister police says that they received a report of a wanted vehicle entering the city. When an officer attempted a traffic stop, the vehicle resisted beginning a short pursuit. It came to an end quickly, once the car ran a stop sign, it slammed into 2 cars. The people in those cars were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
2 suspects quickly fled the crash site on foot, police quickly able to catch 30 year old Jose Cervantes of San Jose as he fled, while 30 year old Mayra Aguirre of Gilroy was found later, hiding in a nearby backyard. Continued investigation into the incident showed that the stolen vehicle had previously been involved in another pursuit with the Gilroy Police Department.
The pair of suspects were booked into San Benito County Jail with a combined 4 felony charges and 5 misdemeanors.
