SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KION-TV) -- The National Weather Service in San Francisco has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Santa Cruz County Wednesday.

Northwestern Santa Cruz County in northern California is expected to see this warning until 3:30 p.m. PDT.

At 2:43 p.m PDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles west of Boulder Creek, or 15 miles northwest of Santa Cruz, moving northeast at 55 mph.

HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and small hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include... Boulder Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms.

Seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure.

Report severe weather to your nearest law enforcement agency or the National Weather Service office in San Francisco CA.
