Man allegedly involved in Bradbury Street murder extradited to Monterey County

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) UPDATE DATE ON APRIL 13, 2023, AT 2:36 PM- The Monterey County Sherriff's Office said one of the people allegedly involved in the murder of an 18-year-old man back in Dec. 2022 in Salinas has arrived to Monterey County.

Emiliano Juan Salas, 22, was booked into county jail on Friday and charged with second-degree murder, assault of a person with a semi-automatic firearm, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, per Monterey County Jail. His bail is set at $1,500,000. He was found by U.S. Marshals Service in Mesa, Arizona, back on April 11.

He is accused of shooting a killing David Alcantar-Rodriguez on the 1900 block of Bradbury Street. The victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds, per Salinas Police.

KION asked about the woman allegedly charged with being an accessory after the fact in this homicide. Iris Lopez is not listed currently in the Monterey County Jail logs.

Two arrested in relation to shooting homicide on Bradbury Street in Salinas

UPDATE DATE ON APRIL 13, 2023, AT 2:36 PM- Salinas Police said they made two arrests in relation to a shooting homicide that occurred on Dec. of 2022, on the 1900 block of Bradbury Street.

Emiliano Juan Salas, 22, was located on Tuesday by the U.S. Marshals Service in Mesa, Arizona, and was arrested after a short chase on foot. Police said they re-interviewed witnesses, examined the evidence and identified new investigative leads that led to Salas being a suspect.

The shooting resulted in an 18-year-old man found with multiple gunshot wounds who was taken to a hospital. The man who would later die of his injuries was identified by police as David Alcantar-Rodriguez.

Police added Salinas resident Iris Lopez, 22, was also taken into custody on an arrest warrant for being an accessory after the fact in this homicide. Both suspects will be extradited to California in the next few days and will be booked into Monterey County Jail upon arriving.

Police Chief Roberto Filice said this arrest brings Salinas PD arrest/solved rate to 92% on murders in the City. 


Salinas Police said they are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of an 18-year-old man on Monday night.

Salinas Police arrived at around 7:15 p.m. at the 1900 block of Bradbury Street. Officers said they found a victim with multiple gunshot wounds.

Emergency responders tried life-saving measures and taking the victim to the hospital, but he died of his injuries, said police.

Police say a white sedan was seen leaving the area after the shooting. Police do not know the involvement of the occupants in the homicide.

This is the 13th homicide of the year in the City of Salinas, per police.
