Former Monterey County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrested again on rape charges, denied bail

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) - UPDATE 7:27 On Wednesday afternoon a judge in Monterey County denied bail for former Monterey County Sheriff Nathaniel Thomas DiMaggio. At the bail hearing the judge said DiMaggio was a threat to the public, according to detectives. DiMaggio faces additional sexual assault charges with a minor.

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV) - According to law officials, Nathaniel Thomas DiMaggio, who was previously charged with raping an unconscious woman and possessing child porn, is now facing a charge after an additional victim came forward in November.

The victim says DiMaggio sexually assaulted her when she was 15 after being served alcohol to the point she was intoxicated. DiMaggio also allegedly convinced the minor to send him sexually explicit photographs.

DiMaggio was arrested at his home on the 27000 block of Prestancia Circle. He was booked into Monterey County Jail and his bail is set at $650,000.

A former Monterey County Sheriff's Office deputy has been arrested on rape charges.

The Monterey County Jail confirmed to KION that 43-year-old Nathaniel Thomas DiMaggio was booked on May 13 on multiple rape-related charges.

One of the charges referred to the rape of an unconscious/asleep person.

The incident allegedly happened on Saturday, May 7, 2022.

The sheriff's office said DiMaggio left the agency three years ago.

According to the jail, DiMaggio posted bail. It's up to the Monterey County District Attorney now to confirm an arraignment hearing.
