UPDATE 1/18/2021 6:43 p.m. The Monterey County Health Department says the closure is a precaution following a pump and container water leak.

The equipment was being used by a construction company doing asbestos removal at 787 Munras Avenue. The leaked water reached the Del Monte Beach stormwater outlet.

The City of Monterey stopped all construction work and water testing will be done Tuesday morning.
