Monterey Moments mask distribution

Maskroulette

MONTEREY, Calif. (KION)

As part of an effort to encourage safe travels during a pandemic, especially with the holidays coming up, The Monterey County Convention & Visitors Bureau held a face mask giveaway at Fisherman's Wharf, Saturday afternoon.

To win a free mask, locals lined up for their turn to spin a roulette wheel, allowing them to choose their prize.

Each reusable mask features designs representing some of local artists' favorite "Monterey Moments."

A CVB spokesperson says the giveaways come with a strong message for all community members.

“We actually have these available at all of our visitor centers within Monterey County that we have for free for travelers coming in, most importantly is we want to protect our community as best we can and encourage people to do these things responsibly," says Rachel Dinbokowitz.

The next free mask giveaway will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 21 at Fisherman's Wharf.
