Forward progress stopped for vegetation fire near Scotts Valley

SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. (KION)

UPDATE 10/20/2020 6:10 p.m. The Scotts Valley Fire District reports that forward progress has been stopped for a vegetation fire burning in the Timber Ridge area.

Air tankers have been released, but helicopters will continue to make air drops and fire crews will stay at the scene throughout the night to mop up.

PREVIOUS STORY: A vegetation fire is burning in the Timber Ridge area near Scotts Valley, and crews are responding at the scene.

The Scotts Valley Fire District reports that the fire is about a quarter to a half of an acre, and a helicopter is supporting ground crews by making water drops.

There are no evacuation orders at this time.

Scotts Valley Fire, Santa Cruz Fire and Cal Fire are at the scene.
