PANOCHE, Calif. (KION) A 67-year-old Tres Pinos man has died as a result of a crash on Panoche Road Sunday afternoon.

At around 1 p.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a crash that may have resulted in a death west of Little Panoche Road. When they arrived, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say the man was alone in the vehicle, a 1989 Ford F350, and heading west on Panoche Road at an unknown speed. For unknown reasons, the CHP said he was not able to negotiate a curve in the road, and that caused the truck to go off the south road edge.

The truck went down a steep dirt embankment, where it overturned onto the left side. The driver was partially ejected.

The CHP said the cause of the crash is still unknown and it is not known if drugs or alcohol were factors.
