MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Officials with the Los Padres National Forest said scores of written warnings and hundreds of citations have been issued to people violating an ordered closure of the national forest.

Los Padres is expected to be closed to the public through Oct. 1, and officials are asking people not to ignore the closure because they cannot afford to have a new wildfire start.

The U.S. Forest Service decided to close the park due to weather conditions and stretched firefighting resources. The Dolan Fire is currently burning in the area.
