SALINAS, Calif. (KION)

It was announced that the California Department of Public Health would allow salons and barber shops in Monterey County to reopen indoor services as of Monday, August 31.

Barber shop and hair salon workers spent their day wiping surfaces and preparing to open their doors for indoor business.

Some salon owners said they were excited to reopen their business, but also said they still worry about mandatory closures potentially happening in the future.

At Infinity Hair Studio in Salinas, owner Vicky Diaz says she has been running her business just two years and worries her business may not survive another closure.

"I haven’t taken out any loans, because how can I pay them without work? I still get charged and with other bills, how can I pay that?" says Diaz.

Diaz says she is prepared to continue following safety protocol with hand sanitizers and temperature check devices.

She also says she hopes reopening will draw in more customers to keep her business from going under.
