Santa Cruz County releases fire damage assessment map

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) Santa Cruz County has released a new map showing which properties have been damaged or destroyed by the CZU August Lightning Complex Fires.

The map shows which homes have been destroyed, suffered major damaged, suffered minor damaged, were affected or were unaffected.

The county said damage assessment is preliminary in some locations and many require confirmation. Teams are out assessing the damage, but residents are not allowed to return until evacuated areas are deemed safe.

Cal Fire said 25,000 structures are threatened and 330 have been destroyed. Of those, 319 are in Santa Cruz County.
