The River, Carmel and Dolan fires continue to burn in Monterey County. Dozens of structures, including homes, have been destroyed and thousands of people were ordered to evacuate their homes. The Monterey Firefighters Association is raising money to support displaced families in the county.

They started a GoFundMe page, which has raised more than $3,000 dollars by Saturday night.

“We are committed to keeping you safe and supporting the community in any way that we can,” they write in their page description.

Aside from monetary donations, they are accepting gift cards at Monterey Fire Department stations – specifically listing Target, Safeway, Lucky’s and Walmart as requested stores.

The Monterey Firefighters’ effort was originally a relief fund to help displaced Monterey firefighters, but they expanded it to include all victims in the county.
