WATSONVILLE, Calif. (KION)--One man is behind bars this morning after he led deputies on a high speed chase.

Monterey County Sheriff's Office officials say they tried to pull over a stolen vehicle, but the driver Jesus Ontiveros continued to drive through Prunedale and into San Benito County.

When deputies tried a maneuver to stop the truck, it sent Ontiveros into an ag field.

They say he drove across the field and hit a fence.

Deputies were able to pin their patrol vehicle against the truck.

When Ontiveros ran, K-9 bond took him down.

Ontiveros was booked into the Monterey County Jail for multiple charges. He'll also be held responsible for the damage to the ag field.
