Crews respond to small fire at Carmel Valley Road and Scarlett

CARMEL VALLEY, Calif. (KION) The Monterey County Regional Fire Protection with help from other agencies responded to a fire in Carmel Valley Friday.

Crews first responded to the area around Carmel Valley Road and Scarlett Road early in the afternoon for a report of smoke, and when they arrived, they found that there were power lines down.

The fire grew to between a half acre and an acre before the spread was stopped. Firefighters were working to protect a structure in the area, but they said it is no longer at risk.
