SALINAS, Calif. (KION) A man who police say is an active gang member was arrested after police received a call about possible shots fired.

It happened overnight in the 700 block of Garner Avenue. An officer in the area saw a vehicle similar to one described by the person who reported it, but police said the vehicle sped up and parked on a nearby street when officers tried to get behind it.

Police were eventually able to contact the driver, 19-year-old Raul Lucas. He had a felony warrant for his arrest, and officers said he had meth in his pocket.

During a search of the area, officers said they found a blue bandana, an LA Dodgers hat and a Cowboys beanie that he allegedly tried to discard. When officers returned to tow the vehicle, they said they found an automatic gun in the glove box.

Lucas was booked into the Monterey County Jail on drug, gang and gun-related charges.
